He hasn’t enjoyed the best of seasons so far, finishing well beaten at Ludlow first time out and then unseating at the first at Taunton last time, and he has only dropped down 1lb in the weights. But he came good at this time last year when beating Doing Fine at Wincanton, and he would have a good chance if reproducing that form. He has winning form on soft, too, so any more rain shouldn’t be a problem for him, and we know the trip isn’t.

She has run well all season, often in the face of stiff tasks, and I was happy with her when she was second at Doncaster last time. She has no secrets from the handicapper, so I imagine others may be better weighted here, but hopefully she will run her race. The step up to this 2m6f trip will suit – she won over it in testing ground at Leicester last season – and she is likely to run her race. Hopefully, that will be enough to see her competitive once again in this valuable contest. I sat on her during the week and she felt in good order, and she was third in this race last year.
