Bryan Cooper: He definitely has the ability to be competitive off this mark
Enola Gay
He had just the one run after coming over from France last season and he shaped really well when second at Uttoxeter on his return in what I think was a decent maiden hurdle. Hopefully, a mark of 119 is okay for him and I think the step up in trip could well suit, too. He is clearly lightly-raced and unexposed as well.
Calipto
We haven’t seen him since his fall at Ayr in April but I think he could go well here. He was obviously a very good juvenile hurdler when with Paul Nicholls a few years ago and he shaped with real promise when sixth in the Grand Annual on his first start for Venetia at Cheltenham. He is 1lb lower here and he has claims in a competitive race.
Fou Et Sage
He is another ex-French horse and he ran a really promising first race for the yard when chasing home Double W’s at Wetherby last October, and obviously the winner went on to win the Red Rum at Aintree. He hasn’t shown that level of ability in two starts since but he was entitled to need his return over hurdles for me at Market Rasen after a long absence, and the handicapper has dropped him 5lb for that. He definitely has the ability to be competitive off this mark, for all he needs to show a lot more here.
