He ended last season in great form, winning in the soft at Wincanton – and it could be similarly testing here if they get more rain, though he looks fine on better ground – and then following up with an excellent second, off a 3lb higher mark, in the Grand Annual. He has gone up another 3lb in the weights for that run, which is what you would expect for finishing runner-up in a handicap at the Festival, and he has gone well when fresh in the past. Other than his fitness, I suppose the other question he has answer is his stamina. All of his recent runs have come at and around the minimum trip and his early efforts for the stable over 2m4f don’t look to have been great. But he won over this trip, and more, when trained in France, so it could be well worth trying again and Venetia’s horses look to be coming into some form, too.
