Bryan Cooper: I could get the green light on Tuesday

Bryan Cooper: I could get the green light on Tuesday

It is obviously frustrating when you get injury upon injury, but that’s simply part and parcel of being a jockey. We saw that again with Jack Kennedy last week.

There is no point in getting down about it, you just have to deal with it and concentrate on getting back get in A1 shape as soon as possible.

I am going to see the doctor on Tuesday to see what the latest is on my fractured right arm and my X-rays, and I’d like to think it is a touch better than 50-50 that I get the all-clear to resume race-riding.

Hopefully, that is not just wishful thinking on my part.

I have kept very fit, and feel very strong and well in myself, and I have targeted the Down Royal meeting next weekend for my return ever since I got the injury falling from Ball D’Arc at Fairyhouse earlier this month.

My employers Gigginstown tend to have a lot of runners, and success, at that Grade 1 meeting, but the important thing is that I am right to make my comeback there.

Gigginstown have an incredible array of talent for this campaign – I was really impressed by Identity Thief’s chasing debut at Punchestown last week – and it’s a long season, with a lot of big races, so there is no point forcing it and making my return too early.

But fingers crossed it is good news on Tuesday. Either way, I will be updating 32Red customers on my progress here, so stay tuned.
