Bryan Cooper: I rode out for the first time since my injury at Gordon’s this morning

I rode out for the first time since my injury at Gordon’s this morning. I rode three lots and felt great, no problems at all.

The aim is to get the all-clear from my specialist next Tuesday and get back riding next weekend.

I would have loved to have been in action this weekend but I am not rushing things and there is only one meeting that I am worried about, and that is Cheltenham next month.

I will be discussing Sunday’s Leopardstown card in my 32Red column tomorrow but there is a good card at Newbury on Saturday, and I am a big fan of Native River in the Denman Chase.

The trip is probably a bit on the short side for him but Dicky won’t be hanging around and I think he will have too much for Bristol De Mai.

Some people are talking about the form of the Colin Tizzard yard but the horses had to a have a lull sometime after a brilliant start to the season.

In the two-miler, I can’t see past Altior. He has a massive engine and looks a natural, a typical one of Nicky’s.  He obviously faces his stiffest task over fences here but he gets 5lb from Fox Norton and to me he is one of the bankers for Cheltenham.

Gordon sends over Veinard for the Betfair Hurdle and I think they are expecting a good run from him. And I quite fancy him, too.

He didn’t get the run of the race last time and he looks an improving hurdler to me. I know it is a massive prize but Gordon has more than one eye on the Irish trainers’ title so he must fancy the horse if he is sending him over to England.

The horse may not always find as much as you’d like and only has one “pop” but I can see Jack coming there full of running going to the last, and going close.
