Bryan Cooper: I think he will be suited by coming back to 2m4f
Sizing Codelco
He was obviously very disappointing for me at Chepstow last month, but we know that wasn’t his true form and he has at least been dropped 2lb for the run. He probably just blew up in the soft ground there. If he is back in the sort of form that saw him bolt up at Aintree and Punchestown at the end of last season then he has to come into the reckoning here but he obviously went up a lot in the weights for those wins and he has something to prove after the Chepstow run.
Viconte Du Noyer
He won the 3m3f handicap chase at this meeting last year and he reproduced that level of form when second to Sizing Granite over 2m4f at Punchestown in April. So this trip is no bother to him – in fact, all his form in Ireland was at and around this distance – and I thought he ran well for a long way for me on his comeback over 3m1f here last month, before missing the third last. I wouldn’t say he is obviously well handicapped off 150, but I do think he will be suited by coming back to 2m4f and he has a good each-way chance.
Solatentif
He finished a good second over 2m5f at this meeting last season, and is only 2lb higher here, I suppose. But he hasn’t got his head in front since, or won for a while in fact, so he is another who probably needs a bit of help from the handicapper. But hopefully he will come on from his reappearance run here last month, where I thought he actually shaped nicely. They didn’t go much of a gallop there and it turned into a bit of a sprint, which didn’t suit. He is another with each-way claims.
