Champions League semi-final preview: Barcelona vs Inter

Champions League semi-final preview: Barcelona vs Inter

Barcelona lost their last Champions League match to Borussia Dortmund, making for a somewhat uncomfortable ending to that match for Hansi Flick’s side.

Still, four points clear of Real Madrid in the title race, and having beaten Real to lift the Copa Del Rey at the weekend, Barca are in a pretty good place right now. Inter are having a less happy time of it.

Simone Inzaghi’s side have lost three games on the bounce in all competitions since they held Bayern Munich to a draw in the Champions League a couple of weeks back.

That stalemate with the Bundesliga side meant Inter won 4-3 on aggregate. But the Italian side has failed to score a goal in their last three outings, losing 1-0 to Bologna and Roma in Serie A to lose the lead in the title race, while bitter rivals AC Milan beat them 3-0 in the Coppa Italia last week.

Will Inter recover their mojo in time for this first leg of their semi-final clash on Wednesday night? All the signs seem to be suggesting otherwise, but football can throw a curveball at you sometimes, to mix my ball-based metaphors.

Better, perhaps, to back Raphinha to score for Barca at 13/10. The Brazilian has 12 Champions League goals already in this campaign, and may well add to that tally on Wednesday.
