Jamie Spencer: Dream Machine is probably my best ride of the day
Jashma
He won here last season, met all kinds of trouble in running here in June, and then ran a good fourth to Vibrant Chords at the course the following month. The run earlier in the season sums this place up really when it comes to sprinting; namely, luck plays a massive role. But it’s the same for everyone and he clearly doesn’t mind the place. He also looks very consistent and comes here in good form after a close third at Newbury last time, and hopefully he can remain competitive off a 1lb higher mark.
Uncle Jerry
He is improving with his racing, and has been placed in his last two starts at Wolverhampton. It looks as though this extra furlong will suit him on run-style and pedigree, so let’s hope a mark of 72 is workable on his nursery debut.
Secret Return
She is what she is, and that is a solid handicapper at and around this trip. Actually, that may be doing her a disservice as she looks to be improving on the evidence of her Leicester win, and her third off this 5lb higher mark at Windsor next time, and she is very lightly-raced for a 5yo. She has chances.
Dream Machine
He won well on his reappearance in May but he didn’t run up to that form when I rode him at the same track last time. That said, he certainly didn’t get the best of passages from the furlong pole and is a bit better than the bare form. He ran well when placed on his two starts for Michael [Bell] here in the past, so you can give him a squeak. In fact, he should love the ground and is probably my best ride of the day.
