He obviously didn’t run up to expectations in the Lincoln but, in hindsight, he probably had a stiffer task than it appeared first-time out in what was very deep ground at Doncaster. And he just couldn’t get into the race, and competitive, from his unfavourable high draw. I think he had a fair old blow afterwards, too, and Michael [Bell] has put a tongue-tie on him to help his breathing. The handicapper has ignored the run and left him on the same mark, which is not ideal, but we know that he goes well here and likes soft ground, so hopefully you will see a much-improved showing.
Juanito Chico
This is the first time I have sat on him but he looks a talented handicapper with a change of gear. He won a valuable 7f Epsom handicap at the Derby meeting and some of his later form reads very well, not least his narrow second to Lincoln winner Addeybb at Ascot in July. He has been off the track a while but he ran well when fifth in the Esher Cup on his reappearance last April. This will be the softest ground he has encountered by the looks of it, though it is drying, so hopefully he handles it okay.
