Jamie Spencer: I think he has decent claims
Stephensons Rocket
He is drawn widest at 16, and that is not a positive for me. But he has run a couple of good races this season, and I thought he shaped pretty well when fifth to Without Parole and Gabr over 1m in the Heron Stakes last time. He goes back up to 1m2f here, the trip over which he ran okay over at Newmarket first time up, and it should really suit this Teofilo colt. He obviously needs to improve and the draw is a concern, and this will be the quickest ground he has raced on as well, but this is only his fifth start and hopefully he can step up to this level.
Lady Of Shalott
She won well on her only start at two and I was very happy with her return in the Lingfield Oaks Trial. I certainly don’t think you can go overboard about the merit of the form – though the third Flattering won a Group 3 recently – and she would ideally need softer ground, but hopefully she will have learned a lot from that run. She will need to have as the likes of Wild Illusion have far superior form to her, and she is the stand-out going into the race on her Guineas fourth and Oaks second. And then you have fillies like Sun Maiden; she was very impressive at Salisbury and their patient approach in bypassing the Oaks could well pay off here.
George Of Hearts
He stepped up a good deal on his earlier three efforts when just beaten by Society Power at Ascot last time. He didn’t get the run of the race there – he got flattened at the start – but finished off his race really well and I don’t think you can argue with a 4lb rise in the weights, with the winner following up at Goodwood. At least he ensures he has got into the race, and his run-style and pedigree suggests this extra furlong will suit him. Hopefully, being drawn 32 of 33 doesn’t compromise his chance, as I think he has decent claims. He is going very well at home.
