Falcon’s Vision
There are a few in here that have run okay but they don’t look to set too searching a standard for the newcomers to aim at. My filly cost 52,000 guineas as a yearling and is by Iffraaj out of a well-related 7f juvenile winner, so this trip looks a good starting point for her. I think she is David’s only second 2yo runner of the season, and the first finished a promising fourth at Lingfield on Thursday.
Florenza
This will be the first time I have sat on her but she has run well on all three starts this season and looks at home over 7f on fast ground, so she has chances.
Airton
James has his horses in good form and Airton has a chance if putting a modest run at Thirsk behind him. He had earlier finished a good second over 1m4f on fast ground at the same track, and races off the same mark here.
Good Omen
Only five runners but this looks a hot conditions race. He didn’t really take to Meydan by the looks of it, and those were his first two starts since joining David. Hopefully, he will be a different proposition here and he would have claims if returning to the winning form he showed for William last year. But Valcartier was very impressive at Nottingham, and the ratings obviously indicate that a case can be made for all five in here.
Auberge Du Lac
This looks a very competitive 3yo handicap for the money, and it will probably take a very well-treated horse to win. Hopefully, I am on one. This colt followed up his Wolverhampton win in January with a good fourth at Ascot last month, and you would hope that run after a long break will have brought him on. He was a shade unlucky for me there, too, not beaten far at the finish after meeting trouble in running, so a 2lb rise is probably fair. I can see him running a big race here, for all this does look a very warm handicap.
