Jamie Spencer: Rain clearly wouldn’t present any problems, and there is more to come from him
Thursday 3rd August
Good Omen
Things didn’t work out for him on his first two starts in Dubai for David earlier in the year, but he showed what he was capable of when winning easily in the soft on his return at Doncaster over 1m2f in June. That was only a four-runner race but he impressed me there, and he put aside a below-par run over 1m4f on fast ground at Royal Ascot when winning back over this trip at Yarmouth last time. I think that was a decent handicap for the track and a 3lb rise looks fair – he won against a pace bias that day – and more rain clearly wouldn’t be any problem for him. I think there is more to come from him and testing ground on Thursday afternoon would be a big plus. With luck in running, I think he could go close. He has plenty of experience and a good gallop over 1m2f in the soft will bring out the best in him; he is as tough as old boots.
