High Wells
He looks to have shaped okay on his first start after a wind op over an inadequate 1m2f at Windsor last time. The ground at Doncaster is currently on the quick side and that would be fine for him, as his best form last season came on good to firm. The step up to 1m6f will hopefully be okay, as well, and he wants it to stay dry. He looks to have a chance.
Hieronymus
The stable aren’t renowned for their 2yos but this Dutch Art colt cost a fair bit and he is apparently pleasing Seamus at home, and going well.
Bubbelah
This trip looks a perfect starting point for him, being a Zoffany half-brother to John Gosden’s smart 7f winner Fennaan. He was bought before Fennaan won, so he was a cheap and good purchase. I’ve ridden him at home and he is a nice colt. That said, I will be happy with a first-three placing, and a win would be a bonus.
White Chocolate
Her consistency doesn’t help her in that she has run any number of excellent efforts in defeat off this mark in recent starts. So the handicapper just leaves her alone. This race has obviously cut up though, and that may help her to get her head in front. She tries hard and this could be her day.
Lisheen Castle
He showed smart form at and around a mile at two, but he was easily brushed aside on his step up to 1m4f on his reappearance at Haydock. The winner is a decent sort though, who took his chance in the Chester Vase, and maybe a step up in trip on better ground will see him in a better light. A mark of 95 doesn’t immediately look too generous to me, though.
Nakhaytak
Mokaatil is obviously the one to beat on his juvenile form. Nakhaytak is interesting at the very least, having come to us after having just one run in Saudi Arabia last year. I’ll be honest though, and I haven’t seen him in the mornings yet.
Wilson
He hasn’t really shone in his two starts this season. But the handicapper eased him 3lb after Ascot last time, and hopefully he can be more competitive here in conditions that should suit. It looks a pretty hot handicap though, and it could be that he needs to come down a bit more in the weights; the handicapper treated him harshly for winning that modest race at Brighton.
I think Saxon Warrior is the best horse in here by a long way but he could just be vulnerable in the ground at the trip, and I have a sneaking suspicion for stablemate Delano Roosevelt each-way. I think he will stay and really appreciate the trip. William [Haggas] is pretty sweet on Young Rascal, and he could figure, too.
