Jamie Spencer: With luck, he can get placed
Emaraaty Ana
The Richmond Stakes third Shine So Bright and The Irish Rover, placed in the Phoenix, set the standard, but there are plenty in here queuing up to reach their level. Hopefully, my colt is one. Emaraaty Ana is bred to improve, and this is the next step up for him. He was the typical easy first time-out winner who hadn’t learned a lot last time, and I’d expect him to reverse the form with the second, Chuck Willis, on experience and improvement alone. The trip could be a bit on the sharp side as he would’ve been more an Acomb horse had he not won so early on in the season. His dam was a 1m4f stakes winner and, being a Shamardal, he’s certain to stay further in time, so the fact he could win over 5f in April from a decent yardstick bodes well going forward. With luck, he can get placed.
Commander Han
I haven’t sat on him before but it looks as though his form has tailed off a bit after a good couple of Chelmsford runs at the start of the campaign. Actually, he wasn’t beaten far here in May but Kevin obviously decided to geld him after a below-par run last time. The handicapper has eased him 2lb as well, which helps, but he needs to show a lot more to be winning a competitive handicap such as this. It’s possible, though.
