Josephine Gordon: It is a pleasure and an honour to be riding for the Queen, so I will be trying my hardest.
Central City
I rode him when he was fourth on his debut at Doncaster and he improved a good deal on that when third in the Lily Agnes. If he progresses again from Chester, and there is no reason why he wouldn’t, then he is probably the one to beat out of those to have raced, though you can’t be too confident in this type of contest and there are some very well-bred newcomers in here. The extra furlong shouldn’t be a problem for him.
Mutahaady
He was in really good form towards the end of last season, though he has paid for it and is now 19lb higher than when starting his winning run at Carlisle. He finished last on his comeback at Ascot but that was a very hot race – it is working out really well – and hopefully it will have brought him on. This looks a tough race, too, though.
Boy In The Bar
I have ridden him three times and he has never run badly for me. He came good when winning at Goodwood last time and, although he has gone up 5lb, I hope he can still be competitive.
Batts Rock
Given how well he ran at Ascot on his reappearance, I suppose you have to say his run at Goodwood last time was a little disappointing on the face of it. But there was an obvious excuse there, as he was still going well for me when clipping the heels of a horse in front of him. Hopefully, he can go well with better luck, though this does look a very competitive handicap.
Quinquereme
She doesn’t appear to have shown a great deal in two starts, but hopefully she will learn and improve with experience and it is a pleasure and an honour to be riding for the Queen, so I will be trying my hardest, I can guarantee you that!
Maori Bob
He may have been showing the benefit of a gelding operation when making at Lingfield in February and he ran well in defeat soon after. He has had a break since, but the Lingfield win shows he goes well when fresh and he is lightly raced and open to improvement.
Munaashid
He finished last on his debut for the stable over 1m at Sandown last month and is 1lb out of the handicap here, so his chance is not obvious. But he doesn’t look badly handicapped on his Irish form, and the step up to 1m2f should suit.
