Josephine Gordon: The softer the better for him
Pettochside
He hasn’t raced since November and he meets a load of fit and in-form sprinters here, so this could be tough for him. But hopefully his high draw proves a positive and he was in great form for the best part of last season, winning three times, including for me at Salisbury. He obviously went up in the weights for such a successful campaign, but he is a course winner – indeed, he has run well on all his four starts here – and he will love it if the forecast rain arrives. The softer the better for him.
Berrahri
I rode him three times last year, being placed twice and winning on him at Lingfield, and he comes here after a fair run at Kempton last time. I’m not sure about the merit of his earlier St Moritz form, to be honest, but he looks to have run huge! But he has dropped down to a fair mark, he has form on good to soft and heavy – so whatever the weather does in the next 24 hours should be fine, either way – and we know the trip is fine. And he has won around here, too. I think he has a fair bit going for him.
Crossed My Mind
She looks to have shaped with promise on both her starts, and hopefully she can come on for her fourth at Lingfield earlier in the month on her turf debut and handle the ground. One thing is for sure, and that is Ralph has his horses in brilliant form.
