Luke Morris: He has every chance on official ratings
Kyllang Rock
This race has a very different complexion now than it had at the five-day stage, as a lot of the big names have come out. That is obviously good news for my horse, who comes here after a decent fourth in a 5f Group 3 at Chantilly that I won on Lady Macapa. He has been gelded since, and the blinkers that he wore in France are left off, and hopefully that will help. He has every chance on official ratings and he went really well for me when I rode him in a piece of work last Saturday morning.
Visionary
He is a good horse on his day, as he showed at Newbury earlier in the season, but he has struggled in better company on his last two starts and you have to say that he has to improve to even have place claims here in what is a good Group 3, in which Blue Point looks the stand-out on form. But he comes here a fresh horse and hopefully there is more to come from a horse that I have a decent record on. A bit of ease in the ground suits him well, too.
Dubara
She comes here in decent form and it looks like her chances would improve if the ground dried out. And connections obviously feel a first-time hood will help her, as well. But she does need to progress again to make her presence felt in this grade against two much higher-rated fillies in Pirouette and Eternally, though third place and black type looks up for grabs in this Listed race. She can be keen so the drop down to 7f could be a wise move, in addition to the hood.
Escalating
He has been given a break since running below form at Newcastle in June. He has won his only start here and I think he is fairly weighted on just a 4lb higher mark than when beating Stake Acclaim, who has run a few good races since, on his previous start at Nottingham. He has gone well after a lay-off in the past, too. He doesn’t have the cheekpieces that he wore at Nottingham, though he has won without them.
Lady Lydia
She ran much better when fourth at Redcar last time and goes well at this track, so hopefully she can be competitive. She is 6lb higher on the all-weather than on turf, though.
Singular Quest
He ran well on his stable debut over course and distance last time and can hopefully go close again off the same mark.
Send Up
She did it well in first-time cheekpieces for me at Kempton last time and I would hope that she can go close to landing her hat-trick off just a 3lb higher mark here. She is only the type to do just enough, so that helps with her handicap mark.
Masterfilly
She looks to have been running pretty modestly to tell you the truth and the handicapper has, somewhat harshly, left her on the same mark. But she didn’t run badly here earlier in the year and hopefully the step down in trip and a first-time visor can spark her back into life.
