Desert Doctor

I was on board when he won at Lingfield last month and then he went on to finish a good sixth on all-weather finals day at the same track. He has to go and show he can do it on turf now from a mark of 95 – since his debut, all his form has been on artificial surfaces – but Ed has his horses going well and this one has plenty of talent. He can be a bit too free, though.

Mirbat

It’s obvious that this race is something of a guessing game, and I can’t tell you much about my horse, to be honest. But he is a half-brother to a decent Group 1-placed 2yo of a few years ago, and Charles has been banging in the winners of late. This trip should suit on breeding.

Sir Hamilton

I suppose if you are being honest then we are here to pick up some prize money down to sixth place, as it is very hard to see his second off 87 at Chelmsford last time troubling the judge. But we know he is fit, improving and he has probably shown more than the once-raced winner Just Brilliant, for example.

Island Sound

He was highly tried at two, and he ran in the Group 2 Champagne Stakes when we last saw him. He was beaten just over 11 lengths there, which may have been flattering I guess, so the jury is out over whether the mark of 80 he got for that is too harsh. I’ve no idea but I do know the stable have started this year in great form.
