Luke Morris: My filly ran better than expected when only beaten 8 lengths in the Queen Mary

This is obviously full of unexposed types but my colt probably sets the form standard on his second over 7f at Haydock and James has his horses in superb form. I have to be confident of a bold show.
Bath And Tennis
A few of these will be fancying their chances in this but I think it is fair to say my filly ran better than many expected when only beaten 8 lengths in the Queen Mary. She showed up well for a long way there and, quite clearly, this is a big step down in class, for all it looks a competitive 5f maiden, and Hugo Palmer’s newcomer Ghayadh cost a lot at the Breeze-Ups in April. Hopefully, I can get a prominent position from stall four and go close.
Emphatic
I rode him at home earlier this week and he goes well. Robert is another trainer to have his horses in really good form at the moment and this colt cost a fair bit at the Breeze-Ups, so hopefully he can go a bit on the track when it matters, too. The stable also had a first-time-out 2yo winner here last month with Chica La Habana.
Tarboosh
I haven’t ridden him before but he came back to winning form at Ripon last time and hopefully he can still be competitive off a 5lb higher mark. This is a much better race, though, and you’ll need a lot of luck with 16 runners in here.
Kandy Kove
I ride another 2yo newcomer for Robert here, so I am hoping the earlier one at Beverley went well! Mrs Gallagher, who was on the wrong side in the Queen Mary, is probably the one to beat but she has to give us all 7lb and my filly is related to sprinters and is another Breeze-Up purchase.
Bahamian Heights
He didn’t run too badly at Brighton last month and the handicapper has given him a chance by dropping him 3lb. I have ridden him just the once, which was over course and distance last year when he ran okay, and I think he is weighted to run well. Top weight Related definitely is – he is a horse I know well – if he comes back to anywhere approaching his best with the blinkers back on. He has been running very poorly of late, though.
Hallstatt
I won on him at Wolverhampton in January and he has run well in defeat here, off this mark, on all three starts since. He would prefer it to remain on the quick side. He looks to have a solid each-way chance.
Bedouin
He looked set for a good season when finishing second over course and distance in April but he has not gone on from there. But his two subsequent starts have been over 1m4f, so hopefully a slight ease in the weights and a step back down in trip will see him back to form in this 0-75.
William Booth
He has run okay on both his starts this season, most notably when fourth over 1m2f here in May, and I think he is fairly weighted off a mark of 70 on his handicap debut. This is just his fifth start, too, so hopefully there is more to come.
