He is probably best known for being a half-brother to Altior but he looks to be going the right way himself. I rode him when he finished third in a Stratford bumper last year and he got off the mark at the fourth attempt over hurdles when dropped into handicap company at the Grand Military meeting at Sandown last time. He has gone up 8lb in the weights and steps up in trip – he has yet to prove his stamina over 2m4f – but hopefully there is more improvement in him.

This is the first time I have ridden him and he certainly needs to step up massively on his recent efforts to be competitive here. But at least he has dropped down to a winnable mark if he does recapture his best, he won over course and distance on his only start here, and maybe the first-time blinkers will spark him into life after a long break. They do need to, though.
