Paddy Brennan: He does go very well when fresh, and drying conditions will be a big plus
Gurkha Brave
I seem to get on pretty well with him, and made it two from five rides when winning at Carlisle last time. That was back in October and, while I don’t know why he hasn’t been off since, I imagine it could simply be that he has been waiting for the better ground that he likes. He is 9lb higher here, which seems pretty harsh to me, and that makes things tough for him. But he does go very well when fresh, and drying conditions will be a big plus.
Wizards Sliabh
She has been the model of consistency in her five career starts to date, never finishing out of the front two, and she has lost nothing in defeat of late, more recently finishing second to subsequent winner Ms Parfois in the soft at Warwick in January. She has won on good ground, too, Fergal’s stable continues in good nick and a mark of 127 looks reasonable for her.
Midnight Chill
Doesn’t look to have shown a great deal in bumpers at Market Rasen and Southwell last year but has obviously just had the two starts and has a decent pedigree so there could be plenty of improvement in him.

He has been in excellent form, following up wins at Lingfield and Market Rasen with a close third to No Buts over 2m4f at Warwick last month. Those runs came on testing ground but he has winning form on good to soft, and at 2m, and the handicapper has left him on the same mark as at Warwick, so he has chances.
