He won his bumper here and he has run two solid races over hurdles, including when third at this course last time. I thought he shaped better than the bare result over 2m4f here last time, travelling well but just not picking up as expected, and I think we will see an improved performance here if getting a truly-run race back at 2m. He clearly needs to improve a fair deal, but the race has cut up a fair bit at the overnight stage – numbers-wise at least – and I’d like to think the potential and ability is there.

He clearly hasn’t run up to his best in two starts this season, but at least he has come down 8lb in the weights as a result, so fair play to the handicapper. He didn’t jump anywhere near as well as he can behind Loose Chips here in November, and we will be in trouble if he does the same. But we know he is on a very attractive mark if he can get it all together, he has good course form, and the ground here shouldn’t be that bad. He would prefer decent ground, but he has run well on soft, and hopefully a break since his last run will have freshened him up.
