Paddy Brennan: He is only 3lb higher than when second in this race last season
Perfect Candidate
Minella Rocco has done us a favour staying in the race, so my horse doesn’t have to carry top weight. He is back down to the mark that he won off here last November, but he always tends to need his first run and slower ground would have helped. Still, hopefully this will tee him up nicely for the season, as he does tend to need an outing to blow the cobwebs away.
Milrow
He fell at Fakenham earlier in the month, which is not ideal. But he is only 3lb higher than when second to Thomas Campbell in this race last season, and he would clearly hold very fair claims if running up to that form here.
De Name Evades Me
He is a lovely horse, is fit, and trip and track will suit. However, he is a bit up against it here with some higher-rated horses in the line-up, notably Gordon Elliott’s Dinons and the talented chaser Ultragold. But we like our horse, there is plenty of improvement to come from him, and it wouldn’t surprise me at all were he to run a big race.
Robyndzone
I haven’t sat him on yet but I hear positive reports about him. He won his only point in Ireland and hopefully he can show us ability here.
