Paddy Brennan: I definitely reckon he has a race in him off this mark
Jarveys Plate
He was a good bumper winner on soft ground for me at Perth, and he has run two crackers over hurdles. Things didn’t go his way when he was third at Hereford, not that it was a bad performance at all, but he raised his game a bit when second here last time. We step him up in trip, and his run-style and pedigree suggests that is a good move. This is a tough assignment but we think there is a lot more to come from him.
Perfect Candidate
He is obviously getting on a bit now as a 12yo and he hasn’t been at his best this season but he has come down 9lb in the weights and loves this place. Indeed, he won this race in 2016. He is versatile as regards ground and he could well surprise here given the mark he now finds himself running off. He needs to show more than of late, though, that is obvious.
De Name Evades Me
He has run well in all three starts this season, and followed up his Warwick win with a good third at Newbury last time, form which has been franked since by wins from the second and fourth. He ran well here in October and I definitely reckon he has a race in him off this mark. He should go well.
Book Of Invasions
John has his string in really good form on the Flat and this horse did it well for me at Doncaster on his debut for the yard, considering the race didn’t pan out ideally. He is a strong sort and he was alone out in front a long time. This is a step up in class, but I thought that Doncaster race was decent and I expect a good showing.
