Paddy Brennan: I think a 7lb rise is manageable
Seddon
He looked good in bumpers last season and he did really well to win so comprehensively on his hurdling debut at Stratford considering how free he was early on. And that form has turned out to be very decent. He has clearly run well when placed in good company since, but maybe the races didn’t pan out ideally for him on both occasions and a well-run race in a handicap may suit him better, as could the step up in trip. I also think he could be on a fair mark, too. There are plenty of positives about him here.

It was great to see him back to his best at Chepstow last time. He had shaped with promise on both his two previous starts this season, but it all came together last time and he ran out a convincing winner for me. I think we had Calipto well covered when he unseated at the last and he went on to advertise the merit of the form when winning at Wincanton next time, so I think a 7lb rise is manageable. He has won over 2m4f in the past, so hopefully this step up in trip will be fine.

He is a winning pointer who landed his bumper in December, and hopefully he will be soon getting off the mark over hurdles. Whether that will come here, we will see – this looks a good race – but he certainly shaped with an awful lot of promise when third at Taunton on his hurdling debut. The step up in trip will suit him, and he is a very nice prospect.
