Paddy Brennan: More to come from Troubled Soul

Troubled Soul
This ex-Irish mare has only been in the yard since September and she has shown gradual improvement in her three starts for us. She finished a good second to Lilly Of The Moor at Warwick last time and races off the same mark and this is only her fourth start over fences so I am hoping there is more to come from her. She has plenty of good-ground form, so that won’t be a problem.

To be honest, I was hoping for a slightly better run from him in the Hennessy but I just couldn’t get competitive and into the rhythm of the race as I wanted after a mistake here and there. But he didn’t run badly – and the handicapper must agree because he has left him on the same mark – and I was very satisfied with earlier run at Wetherby, the first since he had his wind tweaked in the summer. It could well be that he is just a touch too high in the handicap now for these ultra-competitive handicaps but I wouldn’t be in a rush to rule him out here, and he did finish second in this race three years ago. And Colin tries him in blinkers now, too.

This is obviously a very hot-looking novice hurdle but he has been very impressive in winning his two bumpers this season, including at the Open meeting here last month. He jumps well at home, won his point, and can hopefully prove to be an exciting novice for us. It was soft when he won here last month but this better ground suits him fine, too.
