Paddy Brennan: She proved a very willing partner at Ludlow.
Needs To Be Seen
I have ridden him a couple of times recently but he appeared to step up a good deal in first-time blinkers when winning for Alain at Musselburgh. This is obviously a lot, lot tougher, but we will give it our best shot.
Perfect Candidate
He always tends to need his first run of the season, and this year was no different here last month. He is getting on a bit at eleven, but you can expect an improved showing, especially as he has been dropped 2lb for that comeback run, too. In fact, he has made massive strides from his first to second starts in the last couple of seasons, and he treads exactly the same path as when beating Vicente in this race for me last year. He is actually 2lb lower here and loves this place, so here is hoping for another great spin. The cheekpieces that he wore when winning last year are left off, but he has won without them.
Boyhood
He won first-time-out last season and signed off for the campaign with a clear-cut win for me here on heavy ground on New Year’s Day. I presume he had a problem afterwards and he reappears on a 13lb higher mark, and maybe ideally he would want softer ground, too. But he was clearly in great form when we last saw him, he can go well when fresh, and he doesn’t have many miles on the clock for a 7yo. And the stable is in decent nick, so there are plenty of positives.
Mrs Hyde
She proved a very willing partner when making all on her debut for us at Ludlow last month. This is obviously a lot tougher but she beat a couple of decent sorts there, and I think this track could suit her better, too. It’s a hot race, and Willie has brought one over as well, I see.
