Premier League preview: Burnley vs Luton
Luton can climb out of the bottom three with a win, while Burnley will remain mired in the relegation zone even if they can see off the visitors. But at the very least, Vincent Kompany must view this as a winnable game.
Both these promoted sides are struggling. But while Luton are faring slightly better than the Clarets, Burnley did beat Rob Edwards’ side in the reverse fixture earlier this season.
Does that mean the visitors will be hoping to exact payback during Friday night’s trip to Turf Moor?
Perhaps, but Burnley are unbeaten in their last seven meetings with the Hatters, which should lend Vince’s side some measure of confidence.
With Burnley having lost nine of their 10 home games in the Prem so far this season, the neutral may have less confidence.
Luton have generally shown a little more canniness than their opponents. They strung together a couple of wins around the Christmas period, beating Newcastle and then seeing off Sheffield United.
They also tend to score – doing so twice against Chelsea last month, and sticking three past Arsenal earlier in December! On the strength of performances like that, backing Luton to snatch an away win here at 14/5 looks a decent bet.
