Premier League preview: Crystal Palace vs Arsenal
Both these sides began their campaigns with wins, Crystal Palace seeing off Sheffield United as Arsenal eased into the new season with a win over Nottingham Forest.
It wasn’t quite the stroll that some might have imagined for Arsenal though. And Jurrien Timber’s serious knee injury was a real blow for the north London side.
If that puts a bit of a dampener on the Gunners’ start to the season, maybe Mikel Arteta’s team can take comfort from the knowledge they beat Palace home and away last season.
The Eagles tend to be slow starters, too; in their last 14 attempts, they’ve won just one of their first home matches of the League season.
Perhaps that lacklustre record can be counteracted by the Roy Hodgson factor; since his return, Palace are unbeaten at Selhurst Park.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have only won one of their last five away games, and they haven’t won any of the four away games in the Prem they’ve played on Monday nights under Arteta, either.
Maybe that’s just a statistical quirk, but with the Gunners’ iffy recent away form it might be worth swerving Arsenal for the win here. Palace or the draw in the Double Chance market is 6/5.
