Premier League preview: Fulham vs Wolves
Fresh from beating Brighton, now Fulham take on a Wolves side that managed to lose at home to Bournemouth last time out.
That’s not a ringing endorsement of the Old Gold’s development under Julen Lopetegui. But the side have looked improved since the former Real Madrid coach arrived at Molineux, enjoying wins over Liverpool, West Ham and Southampton in the last couple of months.
None of those defeated sides have been in stellar form this season, of course. In contrast, Fulham are up to sixth in the Prem after a victory over the Seagulls that was pretty fortuitous.
But if the Cottagers rode their luck last time out, they’ve been solid at home, beating Forest and Chelsea at Craven Cottage in 2023.
Fulham have won only one of their last four home games against Wolves, however. Indeed, revisit the last seven encounters between these sides, dating back to 2017, and another factor becomes apparent; these games don’t tend to produce many goals.
Each of those matches produced two or fewer goals; the last four games have seen one or fewer goals scored. Perhaps a feast of Friday night football is wishful thinking here.
For that reason, backing “no” on Both Teams To Score at 10/11 looks a decent approach on Friday. In six of the last seven games between these sides, it would have paid off…
