Premier League preview: Spurs vs Chelsea
Graham Potter’s current run suggests some manner of Old Testament-style torment is being visited upon the poor sod.
With two victories in Potter’s last 14 matches, his side scoring just eight goals in that period, last week’s loss to Southampton at Stamford Bridge was a low point. Can the Blues find good reason to keep faith in their coach, as they face a Tottenham side that don’t always convince?
Spurs might be sporadic, but they’ve won their last two home games. One of those victories came against Man City, too. Meanwhile, Chelsea’s last away win was in October, when they beat Aston Villa 2-0. Tottenham win nailed on, then?
Well, perhaps. It’s worth remembering that Chelsea have a fine record at the Tottenham stadium, winning on four of their last five visits. But is that history worth a damn this week? Never say never, but it certainly hasn’t been happening for the visitors lately.
Backing Tottenham for the straightforward win at 6/4 is one approach. But with Chelsea not firing, and each of Spurs’ last five home games having seen two or fewer goals scored, there’s another way to go. Combine under 2.5 goals and BTTS – No in a double at 7/5.
