Premier League preview: Spurs vs Fulham
Unbeaten this season in the Prem, Spurs’ sole defeat (on penalties) came against Fulham in the Carabao Cup back in August. That was after the game had ended 1-1 after full time.
Can the Cottagers similarly frustrate Tottenham in north London on Monday night? It seems a stretch, given Spurs have won their every home game so far under the inspirational Ange Postecoglou.
Fulham did land an away win against Everton in their first game of the campaign. You’d assume Tottenham will pose a sterner challenge, though.
Spurs have won seven of the last eight league games between these two sides; you have to go back to 2013 for the last time Fulham beat Tottenham in the Prem.
The hosts are heavy favourites, then. One thing to bear in mind is the missing Yves Bissouma for Spurs; he’s serving a one-match suspension, and his importance this season should not be underestimated.
Even with Bissouma’s absence though, it’s hard to see Fulham pulling off an upset; before their 3-1 win against Sheffield United last time out, Marco Silva’s side had scored one goal in three league games.
Still, rather than back Tottenham at an odds-on price, it might be a better move to bank on individuals to impress.
Son Heung-Min has been excellent so far this season, with three goals in his last three league games; the Korean is 29/10 to open the scoring.
Meanwhile, James Maddison has five assists already – though none at the Tottenham stadium. Maddison may be able to rectify that tonight, and is 19/20 to provide an assist against the visitors.
