Premier League preview: Sunday’s action including Newcastle vs Spurs
Bournemouth vs West Ham
Each of these sides have enjoyed an upturn in their fortunes in the last few weeks. West Ham fought back against Arsenal for a point last week, while Bournemouth have won three of their last four games, enjoying a determined 3-2 victory over Tottenham last time out.
The Cherries will be the fresher for this match after West Ham’s 4-1 win over Gent in the Europa Conference League. And generally, West Ham haven’t been great on the road, even if they beat Fulham 1-0 earlier this month.
Gary O’Neil’s team are playing with an urgency that bodes well in their battle to remain in the top flight; they’re worth backing for the home win at 15/8.
Newcastle vs Spurs
The Magpies will look for an immediate response after that comprehensive beating from Aston Villa a week ago.
And Tottenham don’t seem the most forbidding of opponents; Antonio Conte Cristian Stellini’s side haven’t shown much progress in recent games.
An undeserved win against Brighton was followed by painful defeat at home to Bournemouth. With games against Man Utd, Liverpool and an in-form Aston Villa coming up, Spurs are in danger of ending the season in a full-on slump.
If Tottenham don’t quickly rouse themselves from this current torpor, Newcastle will hope to take advantage. That could mean more scoring opportunities for Alexander Isak, who has five goals in his last six appearances for the Mags. Isak is 9/5 to find the net here.
