Premier League preview: Sunday’s action including Spurs vs West Ham
Man United vs Leicester
Erik ten Hag saw his team draw against Barcelona in the Europa League on Thursday night, with the Dutch manager complaining afterwards of his disappointment that United were not more “clinical”.
Ten Hag shouldn’t be too concerned; his United side look like they’ve got enough to edge out Barca at Old Trafford. Beyond that though, Man Utd are also outside candidates for the title, should both Arsenal and Man City slip up.
The side have lost once in their last ten league games (to Arsenal), and will be going for it on Sunday against Leicester.
That said, there are a few concerns for the hosts; Leicester have had a week to prepare for this game and that freshness may help Brendan Rodgers team. And the Foxes have suddenly found their old fire in recent matches, putting four goals past both Aston Villa and Tottenham in their last two outings.
That newfound appetite for the fight may not win the day at Old Trafford – but it could at least result in a few goals. This one could be lively, which means backing over 3.5 goals at 29/20 could offer a sound approach.
Spurs vs West Ham
Antonio Conte will sit this one out as he recovers from recent gallbladder surgery, despite having returned to the dugout for last week’s defeat to Leicester. Will Tottenham fare better without the Italian?
Spurs also lost against Napoli in the Champions League midweek. But with Tottenham’s ability to produce a result against the hardiest opposition – hello Pep! – the north London side seem to have embraced the Forrest Gump school of philosophy. With Spurs, you really never know what you’re going to get.
West Ham are unbeaten in their last four outings though. And the rivalry between these teams should lend an extra edge to proceedings. The Irons have found the net in three of their last four away games in the Prem, so Both Teams to Score looks a relatively safe bet – that’s a 4/5 shot.
