Premier League preview: Wolves vs Burnley, Luton vs Arsenal

Wolves vs Burnley

Wolves have perhaps been unfortunate to lose three of their last four games; each of those victories came on the road, with both Fulham and Sheffield United benefiting from late penalties to take the points.

Last time out, Gary O’Neil’s side showed spirit against Arsenal but were unable to overcome the league leaders. At home, Wolves have a better record though; unbeaten in their last four at Molineux, in that run they’ve beaten Man City and Tottenham.

Now they turn their attention to a Burnley side who will be buoyed by their first home win of the season.

Vincent Kompany’s men saw off Sheffield United at the weekend 5-0, for their second league win of the season; could the Clarets possibly build on that result against the Wanderers on Tuesday?

The majority of Burnley’s performance this season suggest that they’re unlikely to give Wolves too much trouble, assuming the hosts don’t have an off-day.

The Wanderers are 4/5 for the win, and it could also be worth getting behind Matheus Cunha to find the net for the hosts; he’s scored a goal in each of his last two appearances for the Old Gold, and is 11/5 to find the net this time.

Luton vs Arsenal

Luton were able to turn Kenilworth Road into a fortress when Liverpool visited last month, the Merseyside team eventually having to settle for a hard-fought point. Can the Hatters tap into a similar underdog spirit as they host the league leaders?

Since the draw against Liverpool, Rob Edwards’ side have actually won their last home game against Crystal Palace too.  But the hosts will have to work hard to get the better of the Gunners.

Arsenal have won five on the bounce in all competitions, while Luton have failed to keep a clean sheet all season. The Gunners’ two Premier League defeats did come on the road, to West Ham & Newcastle, and a bad day at the office is always a possibility.

But such is the sense of belief around Arsenal at the moment, the idea of a setback coming against a doughty but limited Luton side seems a bit of a stretch. I probably said something similar when Liverpool came here, in fairness.

That’s not to say the hosts won’t be able to make it difficult for the opposition. Not a single game has featured more than three goals in the Prem at Kenilworth Road this season.

This one probably won’t be a blockbuster; backing Total Goals by Arsenal under 2.5 at 4/5 might well pay out, with the Gunners so far only scoring more than two goals away from home on a single occasion in the Prem this campaign.
